Dr. Lauren Deutsch holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Violin Performance from UCLA. She studied with Movses Pogossian and Guillaume Sutre for her Doctor of Musical Arts degree and Lorenz Gamma for her Master of Music degree.

In addition to performing, Lauren is passionate about music education. She serves as the Lower School Music Specialist and Strings Director at Sierra Canyon, where she inspires young musicians through comprehensive string instruction. She also maintains a private violin studio in Chatsworth, California, teaching more than 25 students ages 2 and up.

Lauren and her sister, Lindsay, co-founded a nonprofit organization Classics Alive Foundation to encourage, mentor, and motivate children to become involved in classical music. She volunteers her time in preschools and elementary schools exposing children to violin and music.

Lauren also holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Kinesiology from USC. Graduating summa cum laude, she conducted original research on the biomechanics of violin performance before continuing her doctoral research at UCLA, where her dissertation focused on the biomechanics of bowing technique.

Lauren has extensive teaching experience at both the university and pre-college levels. She served as a teaching assistant for UCLA's String Pedagogy program and upper-division Kinesiology courses at USC. She has also taught for many summers at the Los Angeles Suzuki Institute, served as a guest masterclass clinician for Suzuki programs, directed the string program at the UCLA Summer Music Academy, and mentored talented young violinists through the UCLA/Hamilton High School partnership.

Ms. Deutsch is also passionate about sharing her love of teaching with other teachers, and she enjoys training beginning teachers and teachers interested in developing effective approaches for teaching young children. She has completed her Suzuki training with teachers including Liz Arbus and Cathy Lee.
